This is the story of true love……
In 2004 a brighted eyed and bushy tailed college senior journeyed to London to spend her final semester of university in a foreign city. She was ready to explore the city as frugally as possible and make the most of her four months there before being thrust into the real world. She had no idea what was about to happen to her. She quickly fell in love with her new home. The hustle and bustle, the lights, liveliness, opportunity and challenge in living in a world capital jump started her life to realize the
possibilities that were her doorstep. Most of her time was spent wandering the streets, visiting many museums and parks and putting her oyster card to full use. Upon return to the states the new college graduate wanted to do nothing but return. She spent her days dreaming of the moment when she would finally call the Big Smoke her home. Years have gone since college, but by no means has the affection for London dwindled. Her love has been strong enough to get the London Underground symbol emblazoned on her leg to show her commitment to dreaming big.
She’s been able to return to London a couple times in the last few years and cemented every thought she’s had in regards to wanting to call the city her permanent home.
After six years of scheming, dilly dallying and excessive drinking in the US she is now headed to England for graduate school, although not in London. Come the 2nd half of 2011, if all goes to plan, the city will be hers to finally claim and there will be one hell of a party. You’re all invited.
This blog is the story of her struggle to realize the biggest dream (so far) she’s dreamed for herself and the story of a city who has captured so many people’s hearts.
“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
— Samuel Johnson
